At the shelter home in Muzaffarpur, at least 44 girls – aged seven to fourteen – were allegedly drugged, raped, forced to sleep naked and scalded with boiling water.
The apex court also came down heavily on the CBI and the Centre for transferring a CBI officer probing the shelter home rape case despite the court’s embargo against the transfer of investigating officials.
The apex court on Tuesday slammed the state government over its failure to file a correct FIR and gave a deadline of 24 hours to add charges under Section 377 (rape) of the IPC and the POCSO Act in the FIR.
The bench also asked the CBI to place before it two status reports of the investigation which were filed earlier before the high court.
