Ruling BJP candidate Ramakant Bhargava registered a win over his Congress rival Rajkumar Patel in the Budhni Assembly by-poll in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, but the victory margin fell drastically as compared to the 2023 Assembly elections.Bhargava won by about 13900 votes against Patel.
In a major setback to the ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh, party candidate and state Forest Minister Ramniwas Rawat lost to his Congress rival Mukesh Malhotra by more than 7,000 votes on Saturday in the Vijaypur bypoll.
Soon after the police released Patel from his initial confinement on Thursday evening, the MLA from Mauganj constituency again tried to go to the encroached site near the Mahadevan Temple in Devra with his supporters.
Both the groups have had a long-standing dispute over a piece of land near the Mahadevan Temple at Devra village.
