The development comes in the wake of the Centre's constant endeavour of providing world-class infrastructure and transport facilities across the country. The foundation stone of the airport was laid by the Prime Minister in November 2016.
"The development of greenfield international airport at Mopa in Pernem taluka is in progress and the first phase is expected to be commissioned by August 2022," Sawant said in a written reply to a question from BJP MLA Nilkanth Halarnkar.
