The Indian team’s wait to welcome Mohammed Shami back into the squad for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy in Australia could get longer as the BCCI is yet to receive a fitness clearance certificate from the National Cricket Academy.
Shami’s return to action was confirmed after Bengal named the fast bowler in the squad for the Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match against Madhya Pradesh in Indore starting Wednesday.
On Sunday, the Bengal pacer was seen bowling full tilt at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after India lost the first Test against New Zealand. Shami said that was the first time he had bowled with a full run-up since his recovery.
India skipper Rohit Sharma on Tuesday confirmed that pacer Mohammed Shami’s return to international cricket could be further delayed as a swelling on his knee “has put him back a little bit in his recovery.”
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will soon make an announcement about his replacement.
Interestingly India took two wickets on the score of 91. Then two on 167 and 168. And now they have taken two more on 227.
