In the wake of ED summons, BRS MLC rakes up MLA-poaching case
Why BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh evaded interrogation by the SIT in the MLA-poaching case in Telangana, asks Kalvakuntla Kavitha.
Why BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh evaded interrogation by the SIT in the MLA-poaching case in Telangana, asks Kalvakuntla Kavitha.
The move came a day after the government’s writ petitions were dismissed by a division bench of the Telangana High Court upholding the order of the single bench.
Now, the state government is likely to move the Supreme Court to stall CBI investigations into the case though the high court turned down Advocate General BS Prasad’s request to stay the implementation of the order to give time to the state government to approach the apex court.
This is the second jolt to BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy who had won high praise from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for refusing to be lured by BJP’s “agents” to switch parties and topple the BRS government.
While a the BJP has said that an attempt to throw dirt on BJP by the BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has backfired, the working president of BRS KT Rama Rao in turn asked Union minister G Kishan Reddy why they were gloating over the court order when they had claimed earlier that the BJP has no truck with the three accused in the MLA poaching case.
Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy passed the order to transfer the poaching case to the CBI and also quashed the government order to constitute the SIT as well the investigations so far carried out by it.
Telangana High Court on November 15 issued various directions including that SIT shall submit its first report in a sealed cover.
The move came at a time when the Special Investigation Team of Telangana issued lookout notices for BJP ally Tushar Vellapally and Dr Jaggu Swamy after they did not respond to the summons over the MLA poaching case.
The Telangana High court, however, directed BJP national general secretary BL Santosh to cooperate in the investigation.
BL Santosh was told to appear before the Special Investigation Team at 10:30 am on 21 November with his two phones to ascertain the circumstances leading to the allegation.
