Missionaries of Charity is a Kolkata based organisation which operates orphanages and shelters for the poor, sick, and destitute in India, its FCRA licence was not renewed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
It may be recalled here that Patnaik on New Year’s Eve had directed district collectors to ensure that no shelter or orphanage under the organisation suffers and added that money from the chief minister’s relief fund can be used for aid, if needed.
"She wants to create unrest in the country. This will benefit the neighbouring countries who want to fuel trouble in India. What is the interest of Banerjee in this? She should avoid such a habit," he said.
“Shocked to hear that on Christmas, Union Ministry froze all bank accounts of Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in India. Their 22,000 patients & employees have been left without food & medicines,” she posted on Twitter. While the law is paramount, humanitarian efforts must not be compromised, she added.
