The World Bank has approved a USD 47 million projects to support the Government of India's Mission Karmayogi, a national program to build civil service capacity, the bank said in a statement.
A worthwhile goal of Mission Karmayogi is the re-definition of roles and activities of Government employees. Another welcome initiative is the re-drafting of SOPs for all departments, because, at present, through passage of time, there are a surfeit of often contradictory circulars and instructions.
Earlier, during the cabinet briefing, the government said that Mission Karmayogi will aim to prepare civil servants to be more creative, constructive, imaginative, innovative, proactive, professional, progressive, energetic, enabling, transparent as well as technology-enabled.
