Keeping in mind the overall socioeconomic development of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) population representing 8.6 per cent of the country's total population and spanning over 700 unique groups, the Union Government has taken a slew of measures for which the budget outlay of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs was increased by 45.80 per cent to about Rs 14925.81 crore compared to the revised estimate of 2023-24.
In the General Budget, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan for improving the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities.
They were participating in a two-day 'Manthan Shivir' organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to undertake progress-review of various schemes for tribals and deliberate on ''Vision 2047'' and the 100-day action plan of the Ministry in New Delhi.
The grand finale will showcase a performance by famous playback singer Kailash Kher. A footfall of over 60,000 people is expected at the venue on both days.

Dr. Nedungadi added, “We are presently focussing to work in the tribal areas of Odisha, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.”
