The Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Friday sent Shahrukh Saifi, the accused caught in connection to the Kozhikode's Elathur train attack case, to judicial custody till May 27.
The officer has been identified as Vishal Garg, who is deputed at the Delhi headquarters of the NIA. This is the second time since 2019 that Garg was placed under suspension on charges of corruption.
The agency took over the case from Delhi Police, which registered an FIR in the matter under the UAPA and is currently investigating it.
"The government's priority is to safely evacuate the remaining Indians left there and to also ensure the security of Hindus and Sikhs there as well," the External Affairs Ministry (MEA) reiterated on Tuesday.
The Home Ministry reiterated Covid appropriate behaviour that includes mandatory use of masks, hand hygiene, social distancing and also proper ventilation of closed spaces.
However, such foreign nationals have been applying for extension of their visas or stay stipulation period on a monthly basis.
The MHA said that due to the non-functioning of normal commercial flight operations on account of the pandemic since March 2020, a number of foreign nationals, who came to India prior to March 2020 on valid Indian visa, have got stranded in India.
The plea claimed the Centre has illegally permitted the collectors of the chosen districts to grant citizenship to persons belonging to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians.
