According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in the national Capital on Saturday settled at 23.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below the normal.
Parts of the national capital received light rain on Friday, with the minimum temperature recorded at 26.5 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The senior scientist at IMD, RK Jenamani had previously said that fresh cold wave conditions shall prevail again from December 31 to January 1, 2023.
The mercury dipped to 3.3 degrees Celsius and 3.4 degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road and Ayanagar, respectively, as icy winds from snow-laden Western Himalayas continued to sweep the city, the India Meteorological Department said.
The national capital had recorded a minimum of 7.5 degrees Celsius on Friday, the lowest in the month in 14 years, according to the India Meteorological Department.
Even as heavy rains lashed India’s south, the heat wave continued its merciless brutality in the north.
"The maximum temperature is likely to settle at 24 degrees Celsius," a Met official said.
