‘West Bengal govt used mid-day meal funds for polls’: Centre seeks report from state

A field inspection team from the Union Education Ministry will be arriving in the state to review the implementation of the scheme.
He said this while presiding over the 19th State Level Steering-cum- Monitoring Committee Meeting (SL-SMC) of Mid Day Meal Scheme (MDMS) held here today.
An NGO called Jan Kalyan Sanstha Committee which is based in Hapur had prepared the meal meant for students between Class 6 and 8.
The mid-day meal scheme of the country is the biggest such programme of the world and every effort must be done to make this scheme successful. Eventually, the success of the programme will depend on continued public participation and vigilance as well as sustained political interest. By educating every child, it becomes possible to rule out the difference between rural and urban India and to realize also the concept of ‘inclusive growth’.
