Four decades of Calcutta Metro : The unstoppable journey

Finally, on 24 October 1984, Calcutta got its memorable Diwali gift, as the 75th city in the world and as the first city of India to have a commercially active underground tube line of 3.4 km covering only five stations: Esplanade, Park Street, Maidan, Rabindra Sadan and Bhawanipur.

Metro reacts on CM statement

According to the CPRO of Kolkata Metro Railway, Kausik Mitra, the city Metro would not give any reaction to the statements made by the CM today.

Noapara- Bimanbandar ops to begin by March: Metro

The city’s Metro route could have an additional route soon. The city Metro railway is eying to start commercial services between Noapara to Dum Dum Cantonment station of Noapara- Bimanbandar stretch by March.

CRS inspection of Metro projects

Janak Kumar Garg, chief commissioner of railway safety (CCRS) reviewed the progress of all the on-going Metro projects at Metro Rail Bhavan today and inspected the Metro stretch from Sealdah to Salt Lake Stadium station to check train operations on the Green Line.
