In what comes as a ray of hope for the displaced residents of the subsidence affected zone in Bowbazar, the implementing agency of the ongoing Metro project in the area, Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited, has finalised the tender for reconstruction of the houses.
After completion of construction of Piers P-286 and P-287 on EM Bypass, the implementing agency of New Garia-Bimanbandar via Rajarhat Metro Project is now gearing up to start the next phase of the stretch.
The stretch also called Phase-I includes five stations namely-Kavi Subhash, Satyajit Ray, J.N. Nandy, Kavi Sukanta and Hemanta Mukherjee. A major part of the work on viaducts and stations, in this part of Line-6, has been done. Construction work along a stretch of 120m is being carried out and is expected to be completed in about two months’ time.
The Agra Metro project comprises 2 corridors with a total length of 29.4 km and connects major tourist attractions like Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Sikandra with railway stations and bus stands.
