Convict Vinay Sharma, through advocate AP Singh, moved the Supreme court on Tuesday challenging the rejection of his mercy petition by the President.
The court asked convict Mukesh's counsel to approach the trial court and apprise the court about the new developments that have taken place recently after the January 7 order.
The government's declaration came as Mukesh, one of the four convicts in the case, on Tuesday moved the Delhi High Court challenging the death warrant issued against him.
Earlier on Sunday, the Delhi government had 'strongly recommended' the rejection of the mercy petition filed by convict Vinay Sharma.
