Pawan Gupta had filed a mercy plea before President Ram Nath Kovind on March 2 after the Supreme Court dismissed the curative plea filed by him last week. In his plea he urged the court to convert his death sentence to life imprisonment on the basis of his juvenility at the time of crime.
Sharma had claimed in the apex court that President Ram Nath Kovind while rejecting his petition had not considered the ‘mental stability’ he suffered due to torture in jail.
In his petition, he also sought dismissal of the death warrant scheduled to carry out on February 1.
Earlier in November last year, Robert Payas and AG Perarivalan were released on a 30-day parole. Perarivalan was released on one month parole. He was released from Vellore Central prison as he had applied for parole to meet his ailing father and also to attend a family wedding.
The high court had asked the Bar Council of Delhi to take action against Singh for filing a forged affidavit in the court and added that without applying his mind or deliberately, he had filed the documents to delay the process.
