Turnstone Global, a non-profit organisation, joined hands with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and undertook “Project Roshni” to create awareness among village girls and women about menstrual hygiene and to reduce the risk of different diseases relating to unhygienic practices during menstruation, particularly cervical cancer.
The Dharmashastra National Law University at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh would grant menstrual leave to its female students in the ongoing 5-month-long semester.
Under the scheme, the state is providing free sanitary napkins to 17.25 lakh girls studying in Classes 6 to 12 in government and government-aided schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalayas located in the state, said Yamini Sarangi, Managing Director, Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited while speaking at a function here on Saturday.
