Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena on Friday sanctioned the prosecution of Arundhati Roy and former Professor of International Law in the Central University of Kashmir, Dr Sheikh Showkat Hussain under the UAPA.
Omar contested the election from North Kashmir’s Baramulla constituency where the jailed terror funding accused Engineer Rashid was leading by more than 2,04,528 votes over him.
BJP candidates Dr. Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore Sharma are leading in Udhampur and Jammu respectively.
Mehbooba said: “Having navigated the rough terrain of a predominantly male political landscape myself, I am happy to see that finally the Women Reservation Bill will become a reality."
Congress Working Committee (CWC) Member Ghulam Ahmad Mir also averred that lifting additional duties shall lead to economic distress, huge losses to J&K and Himachal fruit industry.
Mehbooba tweeted; "I welcome the SC verdict staying @RahulGandhi’s conviction in a case that had no legs to stand upon. Glad that he will be back in Parliament fighting for the idea of India".
The PDP leader said that Nehru’s efforts ensured a Muslim majority J&K acceded to India.
"At least we the so called ‘dynasts’ worked diligently hard to stand where we are today. None of us have been airdropped into heading BCCI"
Issuing the bailable warrant, the court fixed 21 September as the next date of hearing, said public prosecutor Monika Kohli.
She tweeted, "The predicament Nitish Kumar & opposition parties find themselves in isn’t just because they are facing BJP. Instead they are facing the might of an authoritarian government thats weaponising every agency be it NIA, ED, CBI etc to ensure an opposition free India".
