The election to the standing committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was postponed as the House meeting was adjourned by Mayor Shelly Oberoi, until October 5 on Thursday following the chaos over the decision to ban mobile phones in the House before the beginning of the elections.
“MCD took up the task of removing the silt, construction and demolition waste in all its 12 Zones, and removed 404.65 MT of such waste on September 24 and 1249.08 MT on September 25,” the LG office said here on Thursday.
Oberoi emphasized the urgency of improving sanitation, particularly in the Central Zone, Civil Lines, West Zone, Shahdara North, and Shahdara South Zones.
The drive was carried out along the Desh Bandhu Gupta Road in the Karol Bagh Zone, in which the temporary structures and platforms were removed with the help of local police, resulting in the improvement of cleanliness for the residents in the area.
"Given the severity of this issue and the fact that this might be happening in many wards across Delhi, Commissioner (MCD) is directed to share his responses to the following questions within two days, i.e. by 5pm on Thursday, 26th September," Mayor's communication to the MCD official read.
