Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Wednesday said the sanitation system in the national capital has completely “collapsed” under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Saturday said that it has cleared over 18000 metric tons of construction and demolition waste from prominent locations across the national capital during a drive conducted in the month of October.
She also raised concerns about the shortage of sanitation workers, particularly during the festival season, and instructed officials to ensure daily waste collection in densely populated neighborhoods.
The civic body conducted the anti-encroachment drive following complaints about vendors and occupiers occupying unauthorised spaces.
The autonomous body said that it agreed to pay the compensation purely as a humanitarian gesture.
In an effort to combat the spread of vector borne diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, and Chikungunya, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday said to have conducted a special drive to check for mosquito breeding at construction sites across all 12 zones of the Corporation.
The BJP now holds nine seats in the standing committee while the AAP holds eight seats.
The drive was conducted by the civic body in a bid to combat the spread of vector borne diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, and Chikungunya.
