In a bid to address pressing cleanliness issues in the national capital, newly appointed Mayor Mahesh Kumar Khinchi and Deputy Mayor Ravinder Bhardwaj embarked on their first official inspection on Saturday along with officials.
Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Wednesday said the sanitation system in the national capital has completely “collapsed” under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Saturday said that it has cleared over 18000 metric tons of construction and demolition waste from prominent locations across the national capital during a drive conducted in the month of October.
She also raised concerns about the shortage of sanitation workers, particularly during the festival season, and instructed officials to ensure daily waste collection in densely populated neighborhoods.
"Five backhoe loaders and five tippers were deployed, alongside a team of 65 beldars, supervised by five Junior Engineers (JEs)," the civic body said.
During the launch of the campaign, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak highlighted the important role of community participation in combating the spread of dengue.
She asked the officials to find short-term solutions while trying to find a permanent solution to the problem so that the issue of waterlogging does not arise in future.
During the conference, the mayor directed the officials to focus on major waterlogging points and vulnerable spots in all zones. Special attention should be given to the locations that are more susceptible to waterlogging, and a list of these locations should be provided to the mayor.
BJP members were protesting in the house over the issue of water crisis during the session.
