AAP’s Mahesh Kumar Khichi defeated his BJP rival with a narrow margin of three votes, securing 133 votes against Kishan Lal’s 130.
Addressing a press conference at the party office, former MLA Anil Bhardwaj said Delhi Congress President Arvinder Singh Lovely directed his party’s Councillors to vote for the AAP candidates in the mayoral elections.
The AAP minister, who is a nominated member of MCD, said, "It is necessary to conduct the election in April. Incumbent Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has set April 26 as the date for this."
