The Chhattisgarh State Election Commission has announced the schedule for urban local body and three-tier panchayat elections across the state, bringing the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) into immediate effect in the poll-bound regions.
The Model Code of Conduct came into effect on January 7 after the Election Commission announced the dates for the Delhi assembly polls. The national capital will vote in all 70 assembly seats on February 5 and the result will be declared on February 8.
A total of 155 cases registered under violation of Model Code ofConduct (MCC) in the first week of its enforcement in the national capital ahead of the assembly elections, the Delhi Police said on Tuesday.
In its effort to implement the directives of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in view of the coming assembly election, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Friday stated that it has removed 1.24 lakh posters, banners, hoardings, and small boards across 12 zones. This brings the total number of items removed to 3.89 lakh so far.
In its effort to implement the directives of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in view of the coming assembly election, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Thursday stated that it has removed a total of 2.64 lakh posters, banners, hoardings, and small boards across 12 zones.
The poll panel's action came following a complaint by senior Telangana Congress leader G Niranjan against Rao alleging that in his press meet in Sircilla on 5th April he had made derogatory and objectionable statements against the Congress.
Disclosing this, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Maneesh Garg said that as many as 813 complaints and grievances received by the department since the announcement of General Elections and imposition of Model Code of Conduct.

The complaint, filed with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on April 9, accused Sarma of promising to deposit Rs 10,000 into the bank account of every ration cardholder post-election, which Bordoloi considers a violation of the MCC.
The Education Department and the TSR seventh battalion commandant separately took action following the direction of the Election Commission.
