CM announces 3 new govt med colleges

During her official programme at Suri in Birbhum district chief minister Mamata Banerjee has announced setting up of three new medical colleges in the state yesterday, which has brought joy amongst the MBBS aspirants in West Bengal.

For government medical colleges, it takes hardly Rs 75,000 (Rs 6000 per semester) for a candidate to complete the course comprising nine semesters in four and a half months. With memorandums issued by the state health department to the director of medical education (DME) for five private medical colleges on 3 February there has been a steep hike in course fees for the new entrants.

Pandemic management to be part of MBBS curriculum: MCI

The initiative of the programme will enable the young MBBS doctors to be prepared for the unknownto be able to understand, investigate, treat and prevent new and emerging diseases with their clinical eyes, community leadership and healing touch. The module has been outlined in a phased-based manner and it is expected that the programme will be covered by an interdisciplinary team.
