Concerns arose when the BCCI announced on October 25 that speedster Mayank Yadav, who made his international debut in the T20Is against Bangladesh, would miss India’s four-match series against South Africa
After a prolonged injury layoff, Yadav has been cleared by VVS Laxman, head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), to play in the series.
At just 21 years of age, Mayank Yadav made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2024, and it didn’t take long for him to become the talk of the town.
Mayank felt soreness in lower abdominal area and as a precaution we are managing his workload over the next week. We hope to see him soon in the field,” LSG CEO Col. Vinod Bisht said in a statement.
“It's such a beautiful smooth action. He (Mayank) sort of glided through the crease really nicely. I think pace-wise, the only one that I can sort of really resemble it to is a little bit like Shaun Tait when he was in his heyday,” Maxwell said.
It’s early days in the tournament for the youngster, and logically one mustn’t get carried away with instant success but the young Delhi sensation has displayed his skills and temperament to even torment batters accustomed to facing express pace in bouncy Australian conditions.
Hailing from Delhi, Yadav (21) proved his worth with his pace and ability to swing the ball at a speed of more than 150 mph. Till now, this fast-bowling sensation has picked up six wickets in two games.
