Many senior party leaders are upset with this appointment, The News reported. Following the recent notification issued by the PML-N president, Maryam Nawaz has formally become the second senior-most leader in the party after Shehbaz Sharif.
The PML-N leaders said that Khan started begging Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif two days before the "Azadi March" to announce a date for the elections.
The former prime minister said that the PTI had always been a peaceful party and had "never instigated violence or chaos".
Censuring Khan for his statement against the PML-N vice president, former president Asif Ali Zardari said that he condemned the derogatory language used by the PTI chairman.
Taking to Twitter, Maryam Nawaz said: "Police broke my room door at the hotel I was staying at in Karachi and arrested Capt. Safdar. I was in the room, sleeping, when they barged in."
The NAB Lahore on Friday also initiated another probe against Nawaz, Shahbaz and Maryam for acquiring thousands of kanals in violation of rules making it part of their Jati Umra Raiwind Lahore residence.
Last week, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had announced moving court to declare Sharif a proclaimed offender in a land case involving Jang Group's editor-in-chief Mir Shakilur Rehman.
The former premier was admitted to the hospital for a cardiac procedure.
The new bench will hear Maryam's petition on February 10
