Leading automaker Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday said it sold 184,727 vehicles in the month of August, up from 181,343 units sold in the same month last year.

"Rising commodity prices, especially those of steel, copper, rhodium, and palladium amongst others have left us with no choice but to raise prices across models," Maruti Suzuki India's Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Shashank Srivastava said.
The country's largest automobile maker did not reveal the quantum of the proposed price hike.
SMG has completed construction of Plant C and started production from April 2021, the auto major said in a regulatory filing.
Sales of the mid-sized sedan Ciaz stood at 1,628 units last month. The model wholesales had stood at 1,863 units in March 2020.
The company has added 208 new service workshops in 2020-21, despite tough conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company sold a total of 495,897 vehicles during the quarter, higher by 13.4 per cent compared to the same period previous year.
The scrip was trading at Rs 7,924.00, up by 1.19 per cent on the BSE. Earlier, the stock jumped 2.24 per cent to Rs 7,990.
Maruti Suzuki website will act as a facilitator between the customer and the financier providing real time status updates and in turn provide a hassle free and transparent financing solution.
Sales of mid-sized sedan Ciaz, however, declined by 28.9 per cent to 1,270 units as compared with 1,786 units in December 2019.
