The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed a plea filed by senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia seeking relaxation of the bail condition requiring him to report to the Investigating Officer semi-weekly.
Former deputy chief minister has been moved to Jangpura constituency and the AAP has fielded educationist Awadh Ojha, who recently joined the party from the said seat. Sisodia has represented this constituency thrice.
Sisodia has been shifted to the Jangpura constituency, while Patparganj, his previous stronghold, has been assigned to Awadh Ojha.
Delhi LG VK Saxena has recommended to President Murmu that the resignations of deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain be accepted.
The arrest by the investigating agency or such instances cannot be a basis for knocking the doors of the top court invoking Article 32 of the constitution, contended the apex court.
“The scams the AAP leadership has perpetuated in Punjab on the command of its convener Arvind Kejriwal are even bigger than what they are being hauled up for in Delhi,” says SAD leader.
The resignations of the two ministers came shortly after the Supreme Court declined to entertain a plea by Sisodia challenging his arrest. Kejriwal has accepted the resignations of two ministers.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said that the court is not inclined to entertain the petition at this stage and suggested Sisodia to move to Delhi High Court.
