The BJP-Shiv Sena-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Mahayuti alliance retained power in Maharashtra by sweeping the Assembly elections.
Congress on Friday said BJP national president JP Nadda’s letter to party chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Manipur situation was full of "falsehoods".
He referred to the Mahayuti government as a "50 khoke (cash boxes in Marathi), everything's okay" government.
The Congress leader accused the BJP of deliberately allowing the state to burn, claiming that at least 17 people had lost their lives since November 7.
Promises matter in elections because voters lack rationality. As election history shows, freebies do get votes. Hitherto, it was a time tested method of electoral success for a desperate opposition.
Kharge said even though BJP leaders are saying 'Abki Baar 400 Paar' (this time, above 400 seats) that won’t materialise, the people of India will teach Prime Minister Narendra Modi a lesson in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The 140 crore people of the country are no longer going to fall prey to this lie," the Congress president said.
He also urged the people to come out and exercise their franchise in large numbers.
"Congress guarantees to revive the Scheduled Caste Plan and the Tribal Sub-Plan and implement it by law," he added.
Kharge said that Modi and Shah's political and ideological ancestors formed their government in alliance with the Muslim League in 1940.
