India’s strong response came after Pakistan’s outgoing UN envoy Maleeha Lodhi commented on the situation in Kashmir, revocation of Article 370 and women’s rights in the Valley during the debate on October 29.
Ambassador Munir Akram has been appointed as the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations in New York.
"The UNSC meeting was a reaffirmation of these resolutions. Therefore addressing the suffering of the Kashmiri people and ensuring resolution of the dispute is the responsibility of this world body," he added.
The UNSC meeting was held on Friday after China's insistence to hold a discussion on the current situation of affairs in Jammu and Kashmir following India's decision to revoke its special status.
India's Permanent Representative Syed Akbaruddin had said on Tuesday, "If despite our best efforts, credible progress evades us once again, then we should not shy away from reviewing how we engage on this very important issue."
