The announcements also ended speculations among the people on whether it was Mr Choudhury or the present MLA from English Bazaar, Nihar Ranjan Ghosh, who would be chosen for the English Bazaar seat.
Mentioning that Malda was the sacred land of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Yogi Adityanath also called for restoration of the cultural heritage of Bengal, which it once enjoyed, "but was lost in the present times."
