On Saturday morning, a team of CBI officers reached the residence of the father of Mahua Moitra, who was recently expelled from the Lok Sabha in connection with the alleged cash-for-query scam.
The Lokpal has given the CBI six months time to complete the probe.
Yusuf Pathan will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Baharampur constituency.
The Enforcement Directorate has asked the TMC leader to appear for questioning on March 11.
The opposition leaders including those from Moitra’s own party TMC, hit out at the government over the expulsion.
Amid the ongoing row on the alleged "cash-for-query" case, TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Monday refrained from making any comment on the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee report stating that she would only speak when the report is tabled before Parliament.
The TMC MP said, "What can I say when it was not even tabled (before the Parliament)? Had they tabled it, I would have said something."
According to several media reports, the committee in its report has recommended the expulsion of Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in a "cash-for-query" case.
“An enquiry has been initiated on the instructions of Lokpal. We have not registered a Preliminary Enquiry or FIR against Moitra in this regard, agency sources said.
