Dismissing the opposition AIADMK’s demand for a white paper on flood preparedness in the wake of the recent torrential downpour, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday said the state government is ready to face any rain-related exigency in future.
The Delhi chief minister along with Punjab CM Mann called on Stalin at his residence in Alwarpet in Chennai. AAP MP Raghav Chadha and DMK parliamentary party leader and former Union Minister TR Baalu were also present during the meeting.
The team submitted its report to Stalin on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister is likely to hold the meeting in Chennai physically and the general administration department has commenced preparations for the same.
The deputy leader of DMK Kanimozhi met Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to seek his support to stop the Centre’s alleged interference in admissions to medical colleges set up by State governments.
The office of the Chief Minister said in a statement on Tuesday that the scheme is currently in service at Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, Thanjavur, Tiruchy, Tirunelveli, and Chennai districts.
The step was taken after a threat assessment review was made by the central security agencies and approved by the Union ministry.
