The Border Security Force (BSF) busted an ammunition dump suspected to have been used by the Maoists for illegal manufacturing and repair of weapons to target the security forces in Odisha’s Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected Malkangiri district, an official said on Friday.
The explosives and arms seized from the ammo dump were meant to target civilians and police forces, said a senior police official on Monday.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a meeting on Left Wing Extremism (LWE) here on Friday.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, speaking at the valedictory session of senior police officers conference, said “there was a further significant improvement in the Left Wing Extremism situation as a result this year 5 districts i.e. Angul, Boudh, Deogarh, Nayagarh and Sambalpur have been declared as LWE free”.
