"I request everyone to vacate their homes in the low-lying areas. There are several places affected by the rise in the level of water in Yamuna River," Kejriwal said after an emergency meeting convened in the wake of rising level of water in Yamuna.
The mini Tank Bund has overflowed. Water entered the newly constructed district collectorate as well as the bus terminus complex. Teams of Disaster Response Force in Hyderabad has been sent to Sircilla for rescue operations.
"Heavy rains have been witnessed in Goa over the last few days, which has led to areas like Sattari, Bicholim, Ponda, Dharbandora, Bardez, and Pernem being majorly hit. Such flooding has not occurred in Goa since 1982. A rough report is being prepared by the state Disaster Management team," he said, adding that while the exact quantum of damage has not been established yet, losses due to the rains and flooding are pegged in the region of a few crore rupees.
Landslides hit arterial roads and highways, mainly severing road links between Siliguri in the plains and the Himalayan state of Sikkim, and Kalimpong district.
