Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai earlier in the day called an emergency meeting to discuss the situation and also directed the administration to be alert and asked officials of the Agriculture department to make field visits in areas close to Gurugram.
After the meeting, the Delhi government will issue an advisory to deal with the emerging situation.
Apprehending possible raids by the locusts, the agriculture department has asked the officials to make night stay in villages along the border and arrange for adequate amounts of pesticides to be sprayed on them.
Koundal said that field functionaries have been alerted to keep continuous and constant vigilance on locust activity and get ready to control any locust emergency situation.
The advisory states that the locusts should not be allowed to rest especially during the night as they usually fly in day time and rest during the night.
