Sangay said at this point of time, China is under tremendous pressure from the mishandling of the Coronavirus situation, trade relations with the US and also with Europe.
Addressing a panel discussion on Climate Change and Tibet at University College London’s Darwin Lecture Theatre, he implored upon the strategic importance of the Tibetan plateau as the largest repository of fresh water outside North and South Poles.
The new law will require the Department of State to report to the Congress annually regarding the level of access Chinese authorities granted US diplomats, journalists, and tourists to Tibetan areas in China.
He assured that this report will help to respond to Chinese questions and creating awareness among Chinese.
