The incident took place in the Burari Police Station area on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Both the victims are under treatment at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital (LNJP).
Delhi confirmed its first case of monkeypox on July 24 this year, a day after it was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organisation.
The Omicron ward at the hospital presently has 40 beds and a separately dedicated team of doctors and staff has been deployed which functions round the clock.
In an order, the Health Department has directed the hospital not to deny admission to patients infected with the new variant on any ground.
Speaking on the occasion, Kejriwal stated that the lab will help in identifying and analysing the variants of Covid-19 for any future waves or spreads in Delhi.
