The UP chief minister unveiled a grand statue of the leader on Kalicharan Vidhyalaya premises in Lucknow, and dedicated Shatabdi Vistar Bhavan (a new faculty) at the institute after the former governor of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
The 12 feet high statue, made of gunmetal, has been made by sculptor Rajendra Prajapati and has been installed in front of the multi-level parking in the city centre.
Lalji Tandon, 85, passed away in Lucknow on Tuesday after a prolonged illness.
Lucknow has lost its life and the country has lost a popular leader, the Chief Minister said in a statement.
In May 2009, he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from Lucknow by a margin over 40,000 votes.
Governor Lalji Tandon is in Lucknow for the treatment. He is improving, the Raj Bhavan has informed by quoting a bulletin issued by doctors treating him in Lucknow.
The doctors have described his condition as serious but under control.
Tandon, 85, was admitted to Medanta Hospital on June 11 with breathing problems, difficulty in urination and fever.
