Nearly 21000 domestic animals in the Barpeta district have also been affected by this flood. On the other hand, nearly 38,000 people in five districts of Assam - Bajali, Barpeta, Kamrup, Lakhimpur, and Sonitpur, are still affected by the flood.

An SIT member said, "We have issued summons to record statements of the farmers who were present on the spot and were part of the mob. A few of them appeared before us earlier but none were arrested."
Parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Khanna said that a minister's son was arrested and sent to jail after the FIR was filed against him.

Earlier, UP law minister has assured that people involved in the violence will be punished and since the matter is sub-judice, opposition parties should not politicise the incident.
“We condemn the killing of farmers in Uttar Pradesh. The farmers were brutally murdered. Only a TMC delegation was able to reach the village and meet the family members. It took them 12 hours to reach the village. No other political party could reach them. Our party MP Dola Sen disguised herself as a Punjabi to reach the area. They did a good job,”
