Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Chairman Manoj Kumar inaugurated a Khadi exhibition based on the theme "Khadi: The Fabric of Freedom, The Language of Fashion (Khadi: The Cloth of Freedom, The Language of Fashion)” at the India International Centre here today.
Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has registered a robust 15.7 per cent growth in sales to cross a record Rs 1.55 lakh crore and created a staggering 10.17 lakh new jobs in rural areas during the financial year 2023-24, according to official figures released on Tuesday.
On Monday, KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar distributed margin money subsidies of Rs 299.25 crore to 7,444 units across the country under the Prime Ministers’ Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) through video conference.
The programme was organised under the 'Gramodyog Vikas Yojna' of KVIC, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, State Office Delhi, Government of India.
The commission has also recommended use of soaps, hand-wash, phenyl etc manufactured by medium and small enterprises, under the KVIC.
Earlier, KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena had written to Union Minister of Commerce and Industries Piyush Goyal seeking lifting of export restriction on bamboo charcoal for the larger benefit of the bamboo industry.
It is noteworthy that the transportation of honey to processing plants is an expensive affair for small farmers and beekeepers.
The Prime Minister wrote on Twitter to praise the KVIC efforts to display the world's largest khadi national flag at a height of 225 feet and 150 feet width as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
The online sale, that was launched with just Khadi Face Masks on July 7 this year, has evolved into a full-fledged E-market platform with 180 products as on Wednesday and many more in the pipeline.
As per KVIC, the IRCS masks will be made of 100% double-twisted handcrafted cotton fabric in brown colour with red piping.
