A heavily armed Pakistani terrorist was also killed in the gunfight.
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army wrote on X, "An Infiltration attempt has been successfully prevented with the elimination of two terrorists today on LoC in Keran Sector, Kupwara. Anti- Infiltration Operations are continuing".

The family from Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh was staying at a rented house in the Kralpora area. They were found unconscious in their bed by locals.
According to Army, the incident occurred with the vehicle carrying one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and two Other Ranks (OR) officers.
They have been identified as Abdul Rouf Malik, Altaf Ahmad Payer, both residents of Dardsun, Kralpora, and Reyaz Ahmad Lone, resident of Kralpora.
Two AK 47 rifles, two pistols, four hand grenades, 53 AK-47 bullets, 35 pistol bullets, Pakistani currency notes of Rs 1000, Rs 500 and Rs 50 and food items have been recovered from them.
These arms were recovered during a search operation at Hajam Mohallah, Tad Karnah. A case has been registered and an investigation is in progress, said police.
