State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the J&K Police on Saturday carried out raids at multiple locations in Kashmir.
The moves come a day after the central counter-terror agency carried out searches at 14 locations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier the encounter started after a joint team of police and security forces got an input about the presence of terrorists in that area.
A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorist has been killed in an ongoing encounter between terrorists and security forces at the Khandipora area in south Kashmir's Kulgam district, police said on Saturday.
Two terrorists each were killed in brief encounters with security forces in the Gopalpora and Pombay villages of Kulgam. Sikander was eliminated in Gopalpora.
“At about 6.05 pm, terrorists fired at a police personnel, identified as Bantoo Sharma (Follower) of Wanpoh, and injured him,” police said.
He was shifted to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Another terrorist who escaped from the encounter site, after following a lead, has been arrested in Khrew.
According to the police, two terrorists were killed in an encounter at the Puchal area of Pulwama district during a joint operation by the police and the army, and the other two terrorists were killed in a second encounter.
