As many as 2,150 expatriates are expected to be airlifted in 10 flights from countries including United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia in the first phase of evacuation operations commencing on Thursday.
The passenger belonged to a group of 19 holidaying in the hill resort town of Munnar in Kerala and was under surveillance, a Cochin International Airport Limited spokesman said.
The first flight to Kochi landed at the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) on Wednesday, 15 days after the airport was turned into a sea by the floods that ravaged Kerala.
CIAL says 90% of its staffers got affected with the floods and are out of station, and it will be a daunting task to arrange local commutation, logistics of catering items, which will cause a cascading effect on the passengers
