In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday alleged that BJP leaders were making objectionable and violent statements against the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and demanded strict action against them.
Kharge, who is also the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, asserted that the people of the election-going state and union territory would defeat the BJP, in an apparent reference to Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls.
The Congress president alleged that the BJP-led government at the Centre is only committed to benefiting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “crony friends”.
He also demanded dismissal of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the ongoing violence.
