Earlier on Thursday, the Home ministry had sent an order for Khaleda's release to the prison authorities, after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave the go-ahead.

In April this year, the High Court had accepted Khaleda's appeal, challenging a trial court verdict.
Sheikh Hasina was leading a nationwide campaign by rail when her coach came under attack upon arriving in Pabna's Ishwardy on September 23, 1994.
Hasina dropped 36 members from the previous Cabinet and also didn't pick members of allied parties in her new Cabinet.
