Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has registered a robust 15.7 per cent growth in sales to cross a record Rs 1.55 lakh crore and created a staggering 10.17 lakh new jobs in rural areas during the financial year 2023-24, according to official figures released on Tuesday.
Addressing the program, Manoj Kumar said that this initiative of DD News and Khadi India will also send a message to those who do not want to wear Khadi.
Ambassadors saw the live demonstration of yarn spinning on charkha, clay pottery making, Incense sticks (Agarbatti) and handmade paper making while they also visited several other stalls displaying the finest handcrafted Khadi fabric.
“Since October 2016, one-day sales at Khadi India’s flagship outlet in Connaught Place has crossed Rs 1 crore mark on several occasions,” stated KVIC.
Speaking at an event, 'Khadi Utsav', in Ahmedabad on Saturday, Modi recalled how the mission khadi was close to the heart of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
"The show was based on the concept 'Khadi for nation, Khadi for fashion' and the fabric for all costumes was provided by Khadi Gramodyog Board".
This is for the fourth consecutive year since Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for “Buy Khadi”, that Khadi sale crossed one crore mark in a single day at Connaught Place outlet.
Nadda's appeal to party workers came during his visit to a Khadi store in the national capital's Connaught Place.
The dual-tone sarees will be made of high-quality Tasar-Katia Silk.
Notably, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has also launched its customary annual special 20% discount on all products to celebrate 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
