The family of Naveen Babu, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Kannur who died by suicide last month, is set to petition the Kerala High Court to revoke the bail granted to PP Divya, accused in connection with his death.
Besides the Chief Minister, his daughter Veena, a single bench of Justice K Babu also issued notice to Veena’s firm Exalogic Solutions, and the mining company Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL), seeking their stand on Kuzhalanadan’s revision petition. The court posted the matter for hearing on July 7.
The court’s directive came while considering a petition filed by Muslim Youth League leader P K Kasim. Kasim approached the High Court , alleging that a fake screenshot was circulated in his name.
A single bench of Justice Muhammad Niaz annulled the nomination of four student representatives to the Senate, rejecting Khan's argument that he could make appointments to the Senate at his own discretion as he is the Chancellor of the varsity.
The court also noted that there is no legal provision mandating that the returning officer should give a reasoned explanation for his decision on a complaint regarding discrepancies in the election affidavit of a candidate.
Additional Solicitor General of India (ASGI) A R L Sundaresan submitted before the court that politics is not a reason to interfere with law.
The survivor approached the court with two applications. The first application aimed to obtain copies of statements of persons examined in the fact-finding inquiry.
The details of the inquiry report were produced by the survivor before the Kerala High Court along with a petition to quash the report and order a court-monitored probe by a special investigation team of the police.
