Seeking leave for the adjournment motion, Rema raised the issue of women's safety, citing different incidents. She said in the assembly that incidents of violence against women and children are on the rise in the state.
The Congress-led UDF opposition on Tuesday walked out of the Kerala Assembly, accusing the LDF government of trying to protect the CPI-M leaders in Kozhikode allegedly involved in the PSC membership-for-cash scam.
Vishnunath said around 118 policemen were needed on an average for a police station to function effectively. However, in many police stations, only 44 policemen on an average are handling the workload of 118 policemen, he added.
Following this, Speaker AN Shamseer denied permission for the adjournment motion. Reacting to the refusal, opposition members walked out of the Assembly.
The Opposition UDF staged a walkout accusing the government of lying to the House about the well-documented move to grant remissions to convicts in the TP Chandrasekharan murder case.
Of the 28 days of the session, 13 days – from June 11 to July 8 – have been reserved for discussion and passing of the money requests, five days have been allocated for non-official business, and eight for government business, the Speaker said.
