The former Jalandhar Bishop, who was arrested on September 21 last year in Kochi after three consecutive days of interrogation by the state police, is currently out on bail.

Bishop Franco Mulakkal was arrested in Kochi on September 21 after he was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a nun between 2014 and 2016.
Hours after Mulakkal, accused of repeated rape, appeared before the SIT, DGP said that decision on his arrest will be taken once the questioning is over.
An FIR was registered against the Bishop with the nun and other convent inmates giving detailed statements running into 114 pages.
The nun who alleged rape by the Bishop had recently sought urgent intervention of the Vatican for justice and demanded the bishop's removal as head of the Jalandhar diocese.
The Missionaries of Jesus of Jalandhar went on to say that the nun, who accused the bishop of raping her on multiple occasions, has conspired against him.
