The Uttarakhand government on Friday deployed Chinook and Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force to rescue nearly 1,450 tourists stranded at four locations along the Kedarnath route for the past two days.
Six devotees flying to Kedarnath had a narrow escape on Friday morning when the helicopter they were aboard developed a serious technical snag, forcing an emergency landing on a hilltop ahead of the Kedarnath helipad.
The portals of Kedarnath shrine, also known as the 11th jyotirlinga, will open on May 10, 2024 at 7 am this Chardham pilgrimage season, the BKTC informed as it released the shrine calendar for pilgrims on Friday.
