Former Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav on Tuesday joined the BJP in the presence of Maharashtra Minister and state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule in Mumbai.
Kedar received his maiden call-up to the national team for the ODIs against Bangladesh in June 2014 but he had to wait till November that year to get his first international cap, making his debut against Sri Lanka in Ranchi.
In IPL 2019, Jadhav scored just 162 runs from 14 matches at an average of 18 with a strike rate of 95.85. Despite the right-hander failing to impress, CSK retained him for the 2020 season.
Jadhav's side-arm action proved to be quite a tough one for batsmen to pick and he ended up breaking many crucial partnerships
A big fan of Salman, Jadhav was in a fix when asked to pick between the actor and Dhoni.
With India needing some 50 odd runs from the last five overs after Hardik Pandya got out, the former Indian skipper was seen struggling to find boundaries and scored the bulk of his runs in singles and doubles.
Notably, MS Dhoni scored 28 runs off 52 balls at a strike rate of 53.85 against Afghanistan. Though Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah's heroics won India the game by a narrow margin of 11 runs, Dhoni once again came under scrutiny for his slow scoring.
According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, team physiotherapist Patrick Farhart gave a final nod about Kedar Jadhav's fitness to the selectors a few days back.
"India will miss Pant in the World Cup. I don't know in whose place but he will be missed," said Sourav Ganguly
It could be safely concluded that Kedar is not being risked as BCCI has blanket instructions that any injury to World Cup-bound players will be given utmost priority.
